The Diplomaticos Bushido Cigar is a Regional Edition Cuban Cigar from the Asia Pacific area of the world. The Diplomaticos Bushido measures 7 1/4 inches by 50 Ring gauge. Its vitola is known as the ’109’, famous for its tapered head similar to that of a piramide but more rounded at the top. An almost totally forgotten Vitola amongst modern Cuban cigars.
The Bushido really is extra special because it was produced to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the first Japanese citizen visiting Cuba! The citizen was of course a Samurai (Bushido could translate to “the way of the Samurai”) and this message can be seen through the carefully crafted Cigar stick but also its outer packaging.
The Cigar itself comes packaged in decorative outer box which demonstrates its Pacific routes. The ornate black shell with gold foil really enhances the Samurai based history.

About this cigar: The Por Larrañaga Larrañaga 47 or PL47 for short is a classic “Churchill” vitola and is presented in an impressive unvarnished Semi Boîte Nature box of 50 cigars. This is the first time a UK Habanos Regional Edition has been offered to the market in this format. As with some previous UK Regional Editions, an old papeleta from the brand has been recreated to dress the outside of the box.
Unlike most cabinets/boxes housing fifty Habanos, the cigars are layered in three rows of thirteen and one row of eleven rather than tied into a bundle with ribbon. This style of box is considered an outstanding way of ageing cigars in the medium and long term.
Only 1,500 numbered boxes have been produced which will be made available exclusively to the UK market
The name Por Larrañaga, which means “By Larrañaga”, was first registered in Havana by Ignacio Larrañaga in 1834. This was just 24 years after the very first cigar brands were registered, and makes Por Larrañaga the oldest brand of handmade Habanos still in production.
Although Por Larrañaga is classified light to medium bodied, and is relatively subtle and easy going, it has a reputation for outstanding ageing potential. Previous UK Regional Editions from the brand, most notably the 2007 Magnifico, have born this out and have become extremely collectable.

About this cigar: The Diplomaticos Leal, exclusively manufactured for the Cuban market as a Regional Edition cigar, was originally set for release in 2021 but made its debut in early 2024. Its dimensions of a 54 ring gauge and 140mm length match those of the esteemed Partagás Serie E No. 2, also known as Duke. Each 10-count dress box is reminiscent of Cuba's 2015 Regional Edition, the Diplomaticos Excelencia. Despite a delayed release due to the pandemic, the Leal embodies the legacy of late Cuban historian Eusebio Leal Spengler and is expected to have a high resale value. As Cuba's seventh Regional Edition in the last decade, the Diplomaticos brand continues to garner praise, with past releases like the Excelencia earning a 96-point rating on Cigar Aficionado's Connoisseur’s Corner.
